My Favorite Essie Polishes

I can honestly say my favorite line of polish is Essie. Not only are they pigmented but the color selection is amazing. They seem to have the best natural color selection. From sheer, opaque to glitter the color and staying power of these polishes make me want them all. Out of all the colors in the line my favorite red is Head Mistress. It’s like that everyday red that’s prefect all year round. Penny Talk is a rose gold that reminds me of winter. This polish has pink specks that seem to make this polish shimmer. Cubby Cheeks reminds me of summer. It’s an orange with a bit of pink in it. It screams ‘pool party’! Chinchilly is that fall color, a grayish purple. Who is the Boss, is a nice summer baby blue. It reminds me of actual paint but fun to wear on the nails.

Mini-Sephora Haul

A little over a month ago I made VIB at Sephora. With that was a perk of a discount code for 10% off my entire purchase. It’s not much but it’s better than nothing and I’m grateful for the nice perk. I really didn’t need anything since I did my big purchases during the VIB sale in April. So I decided to purchase some travel items I thought I might need in the future or in August when I head to St. Paul/Minneapolis.

I love a good brush set or in this case a mini set. The Sephora Collection has this set of five brushes that was regular $22 down to $11.  The brushes are a lot shorter than I expected, it’s not something I would pay $22 dollars for. I had to pick up a Sephora container in the event I wanted to bring some sort of lotion or bath salts. I think these 1.75 oz refillable bottles are ideal for things like shampoo, conditioner or even facial wash. They’re also cute! Speaking of facial wash, I had to pick up First Aid Beauty’s Facial Wash. It’s perfect for sensitive skin. It is expensive for a 10 oz tube of facial wash for $10 but a little of this goes a long way.

The Empties #2

I’m back from a mini break with an empties post. Most of these you’ve heard me mention about and one I’ve really never talked about. You know I am a sucker for Tree Hut’s Shea Sugar Scrub. I like this not only because it smells good but also because it’s actually really grainy. I know there are some that don’t prefer a grainy scrub but isn’t that the purpose. Yes, Shiseido Facial Cotton pads are expensive but I don’t use them everyday (which is a plus). I prefer these than cotton balls because sometimes cotton balls have little harsh bits on them. I mainly use them to take off eye makeup and I don’t want any thing that could scrape my eye next to my eye. I’ve talked about First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair Cream so many times you'd think I'm working with them (I'm not by the way). I used this everyday during winter and it saved my skin. I've gone through two tubes of this stuff. I love it!

I mentioned months ago I bought this on a weekend trip and that’s Eucerin Gentle Hydrating Cleanser. This is a milky cleaner that gets the job done. It feels great on the skin and doesn’t have a strong scent. Finding a foundation that I like is hard to find and finding my color can be harder sometimes. Laura Mercier’s Smooth Finish Flawless Fludie is that foundation that not only feels like I am not wearing anything but gives that buildable coverage. I don’t think I ever really mentioned my love for Bobbi Brown’s Tinted Eye Brightener. Most people wear concealer I wear eye brightener. This not only makes my eyes seem wide-awake, it doesn’t crease, it last all day and it’s easy to blend. I have naturally dark under eyes and I have not found a concealer that can hide my dark under eyes. I wear this with liquid and powder foundation and it works great. What can I say: I love this stuff!

Weekend Makeup Edit

Now that it’s feels a bit like summer I find that when the weekend comes around I skip wearing liquid foundation. I put away the eyeliner and put together the simplest look with little products. Instead of my normal liquid foundation I’ve been using my Laura Mercier Mineral Powder in classic beige. I’ve had this for a while and to be honest I can’t even remember when I bought it and why I stopped using it. It’s a great face product for sheer coverage and it has an SPF of 15. However before I use this I cover some of my imperfections with Urban Decay’s Concealer in Medium Neutral, I do have acne scars but I am not going for perfection in covering them up just a sheer coverage.

For eyes I’ve been using Urban Decay’s Naked 3 Palette. I use the color Nooner to cover the entire lid. I’ve been using Maybelline’s Lash Sensational Mascara lately for my lashes to give me a semi-dramatic look. For lips I’ve been using Tarte’s LipSurgence in Blushing Bride to give me a little pop of color…and I’m out the door.
